Quite an unusual band photo, but it's Tessie Gork taken locally in Kincardine Street in the late 1960's.

Another Stonehaven gig for a Dundee band, but this time in September 1973.
The only thing is, they seemed to have advertised it the wrong way round. Diamond Lil was the band playing and so should have been the ones in big bold font with (formerly Sundance) underneath. Perhaps there were Sundance fans in Stonehaven and so thought if Diamond Lil was in bold font, they wouldn't have attracted as many people. |

Robin McKidd got involved in the music scene locally when he attended the Dundee Folksong Club's first meeting in Ann Street School in 1963.
Fiddle, guitars and banjo were his instruments and he used to perform solo as well as be in & out of bands throughout the mid 60's.
By 1968 he teamed up with Rab Noakes and the duo performed regularly around UK.
Robin himself, as far as I know, never released any records under his own name, but he has appeared on many recordings globally - sometimes being in band line-ups and sometimes as a guest.
For example, when Rab Noakes released albums under his own name in the early 1970's, Robin was in his band.
Robin also joined High Speed Grass in 1971 with who he composed as well as played.
Acts from around Europe was another area Robin linked up with, for instance, appearing on an album by Hans Theessink.
In the late 80's, Robin was in the Balham Alligators, who went onto record albums and tour regularly.
After the 80's, he continued to appear on lots of recordings which I won't dip into because they are beyond the Retro date period, although I will mention one he did in 1993 when he guested on Mick Jagger's solo album "Wandering Spirit".
So that's not bad for a local fiddle player.
The photo is of Robin (left) when he was in Balham Alligators.
The dog was actually in the band too - as a singer (or howler)..!!

Robin McKidd played on Mick Jagger's solo album in 1993, but another Dundonian managed to team up with a different Rolling Stone a few years earlier.
This was Jimmy Deuchar who became part of The Charlie Watts Orchestra in 1986.
Here is the cover of a live album Jimmy plays on, which was also released in 1986.

This is 3 stages of the same band members with different band names.
Starting with The Cows who were playing in Fife in December 1973.
Then changing their name to Badger, they had a weekly spot in Newarthill in May 1978.
Shortly after, their final name change was to Headboys, and their gig in Kirkcaldy was in January 1979.

Bathtime were duo Stewart Ivins and Pauline Rourke.
They released a single in 1986 called "Pussy Pussy Pussy" with only 1000 copies pressed.
It came out on the Mink label by the way.
The adverts for 2 dates at Upstairs Downstairs in Broughty Ferry and 2 gigs in Dumfries are also dated 1986.
